Everyone has the one band or musical group that they love and could listen to all day. It may be the Beatles, Black Eye Peas, Maroon5, or any band that you may like or rock out to any time of the day. Well I’m going to tell you about my favorite band and what I love about them, also why I chose to write about. My favorite band of 2012 is a band called One Direction.
One Direction is a British-Irish boy band, consisting of members by the names Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson. They are from the United Kingdom and Ireland. Also they were born between the years of 1990 and 1994.You may or may not have heard of them from the show X Factor they appeared on the seventh season as solo candidates, but they didn’t quailfy for the “boys” category so they were later placed into a band which became One Direction.
After X Factor they soon signed a 2 million dollar contract with Sony Music. Once they signed with them they had a total of three albums out before the end of 2011. Some of their singles that were released where “What Makes You Beautiful”, and “Gotta Be You”. Also they released their first book Dare To Dream: Life As One Direction.
Their first single “What Makes You Beautiful” debuted on the UK singles chart at number one which shifted 153,965 copies it became the third fastest selling single of 2011. Their second single ” Gotta Be You” was number three on the UK singles chart. In the end with the help of their album Up All Night it was the fastest-selling debut album on the UK albums chart of 2011, with a total of 468,000 copies sold in one year.
In the end One Direction still tries to find the time with just being themselves and handling the fact that the have no true privacy dealing with being famous. I feel that they would make it and not let the fame get to their heads and tear them apart from being best friends and working together. One Direction will always be my favorite band no matter if they stay as a group or not.
