“Add me on facebook.” “Follow me on Twitter.” In today’s generation, there are many popular social networking websites. Two of the most popular, are Facebook or Twitter. Facebook, has been around a little longer than Twitter has. On facebook, you can meet up, and make contact with many friends from your old times, or that you have just met. Twitter, is a website, that is mostly famous people have. Having a friend on Twitter, is called a follower.
Facebook, has been around since, August 25, 2006. On the last Facebook census, (which was taken on November 3, 2010) there was 500 million users. The average person knows or has around 120 people on their friends list. However, there are people who add people they don’t know. Either way, Facebook is more popular as of today, though in the future, Twitter may take over. Facebook was intitially created by a man name Peter Thiel, the co-founder of Pay-Pal. He spent 500,000 dollars on the creation of Facebook.
Twitter was created in May 2006, by a man named Jack Dorsey. Twitter has an estimated amount of 250 million users, with 8,000 ‘Tweets’. An average person on twitter has around 126 followers, but the person with these followers knows about 20 % of these users. Only 21% of Twitter users are active on their Twitter. In terms of tweets, the report estimates that 34% of Twitter users hadn’t tweeted even once.
In my opinion, I prefer facebook over Twitter a thousand times. I have both a Facebook and Twitter, but I favor Facebook more because it is easier. I do like both though, I just believe Facebook, will stay more popular, during my teenage generation.
