Yogurtland vs. Mochi

The Topping Bar

Have you ever noticed that all these fro yo (frozen yogurt) places are popping up all over the place? You can tell by the almost Easter- blue, pink, and green colors in the window. there has been a recent trend of these oddly decorated fro yo restaurants.  There are two in particular that stand out in Orlando. The first place is called Mochi. The second fro yo (and my favorite) is called Yogurtland .

When you walk into either of these places you will notice a wall of ice cream machines with laminated signs that has the flavor of the yogurt.  You grab one of their HUGE cups and pick from as many flavors and you would like. Then you walk over to the amazing topping bar and dump on as much stuff you can get. They have hundreds of toppings, from fruit to candy, from cereal to yogurt chips. After that you walk to the cash register and put your cup on a scale and pay.

Some of the many flavors and toppings from yogurt land

Mochi has 3 locations: one in Gainesville,  Jacksonville, and one here in Orlando on South Orange Ave. Mochi is named after a Japanese ingredent used to make many things, including rice cakes, ice cream and soup. Mochi has better toppings, but less flavors of fro yo. In Mochi the price is 45 cents per ounce.

Yogurtland has over 100 locations, including Japan and Mexico. They are building many more. There are 4 in Florida, and they are building 3 more. The one in Orlando is in Winter Park on North Orlando Ave. Yogurtland has flavors that change all the time. They even have hoilday flavors. They have 46 flavors in all! In Yogurtland, the price is 35 cents per ounce.

I’m sure you have been wondering what the diffrence is between ice cream and fro yo. Why not go to Dairy Queen or Cold Stone? Well, frozen yogurt is WAY healthier than ice cream. Fro yo has good bacteria called probiotics that boost the immune system. It also has less calories than ice cream (live strong.com).

In conclusion, fro yo is just better. It’s healthier, it’s yummier, and it’s good with just about any topping. My favorite fro yo is Yogurtland. Leave a comment and let me know your favorite fro yo store, flavor and topping.
