The person you see running the ball is Cameron Jerrell Newton. He was born on May 11, 1989 in College Park,Georgia. He is the starting quarterback for the Auburn Tigers. He is known as one of the best quarterbacks in the nation. But Cam Newton is in some trouble right now.
In 2005, as a junior at Westlake High, Cam Newton ran for 638 yards on the season. After that game Newton started to get recruited. He received many scholarships, but he had to choose one. Florida was his top school so he chose the University of Florida.
At the University of Florida Newton was the third-string quarterback. Which means he was the third quarterback. He was backup to Tim Tebow, who is now in the NFL, and John Brantley, the current quarterback at Florida. At Florida, Newton got into some trouble. He purchased a stolen laptop. He also was accused of cheating on three tests and writing his name on a news article that he didn’t write. After his freshman year at Florida he decided to transfer to Blinn Junior College. After his transfer, Newton tried out and made the football team. He had a successful season and lead Blinn to the NJCAA championship, for junior colleges. After this he was recruited again, and it came down to two schools: Mississippi State and Auburn. He reached for the Mississippi State but he grabbed the Auburn hat.Â
Now it’s 2010 and Cam Newton is currently playing for the Auburn Tigers. He is having a Heisman-hopeful year. That means he is having so good of a season he might win the Heisman award. But the votes might be effected by him getting in trouble this year over the cheating at Florida and a new scandal. You can read about it here. The Auburn Tigers are second in the polls behind Oregon. They are currently projected to play in the championship game. We don’t know if Newton did do all of this. But there is a unanimous source that told reporters that he did. Do you think that Cam Newton did all of this?
