Florida State is doing great things!
For the last few years the Gators have dominated in both football and basketball. Until now. The Seminoles have beat the Gators in football and, in basketball, have gotten a Sweet Sixteen bid. For Seminole fans, this is an event that has not happened for ten years. It has left the Seminole nation in a state of excitement.
It started with the Noles’ best basketball regular season in years. Their regular season ended with the Semnioles having a 21-9 record and a victory over the #1 Duke Blue Devils. The Noles lost their first ACC tourney game in a nail-biter to Virginia Tech. Despite this, the Noles got only a 10 seed in the NCAA tournament.
In the first game, Florida State beat the favored 7 seed, Texas A&M, in a 57-50 victory. Only two days passed until the Seminoles played 2 seed Notre Dame, a game in which they were heavy underdogs. Florida State turned out playing even better in the second match up than the first, defeating Notre Dame in a landslide 71-57 victory. Florida State walked off the court with the one thing they have failed to get for a long time; a sweet 16 bid.
Florida State will face another unpredictable tournament team in the Sweet 16: VCU. Florida State is a slight favorite in the match up. So far, Florida State has won against the odds, and Florida State fans are wondering, can Florida State win with the odds with them? If Florida State wins, the Noles will face the winner of the Kansas-Richmond game for a chance at the Final Four and a national championship!
