So many people like to eat at chain restaurants these days. Restaurants like Red Lobster, Cheesecake Factory, and California Pizza Kitchen. But some people like to eat at locally owned restaurants. There are many types of restaurants that are locally owned. One restaurant that I enjoy that is not “American” food is Shin Jung (click link for directions and additional information). Shin Jung is a very delicious restaurant and I think that you should try it out.
Shin Jung is a Korean restaurant that only serves Korean food that is phenomenal. Shin Jung has been around since 1996. The atmosphere is not anything fancy or unexpected. The atmosphere is actually very normal. On some of the tables there is a grill at the center, where you can cook any of the meat dishes if you would like to. Other tables are normal and the chef will have the meat already cooked for you. Some tables are booths, and some are regular tables with regular chairs. There are only twelve seating areas, so if you want to eat there any night, come early! Right when you enter the front door, you are hit with a wave of wonderful smells of different types of traditional foods of all sorts. Which brings me too the food…
Now, what to say about the food? Well, to start, the food if wonderful! Some traditional Korean dishes that are served there are: Bulgogi, Dol Sat Bim Bop, Kimchi, and, my personal favorite,Kalbi (the food that makes Shin Jung famous).   All of the food is fresh and delicious. Before you get your main meal, a server will put small dishes on your table that have an assortment of different traditional Korean appetizers like kimchi, seaweed, and scallion pancake. Most of the dishes are served with a little warm bowl of sticky rice. Right away, in maybe ten minutes, your food is served. Depending on what dish you order, the dish comes out hot and sizzling in a cast iron bowl or plate so that your food is hot and fresh. The hot dishes are sizzling and popping when they come to you. There are many different dishes to try and they are all wonderful.
“The food is wonderful! Some of the best non-American food I have ever had,” says my mother, Mary. “I love the apperance of Shin Jung. The waiters are so friendly and really make you feel welcome. The food comes right away and you know that it is fresh.” Another opinion from my dad, Alex, is, “The food is very good and fresh. I like how kind the staff is and the whole feeling of the restaurant. I recommend that you go there.”
My opinions on Shin Jung are infinite. For starters, the food is some of the best food that I have ever had.  My favorite dish there is the Kalbi, Korean barbecue. I think that you should try everything at Shin Jung if you ever go there. Even if you do not care for anything that is “traditional,” there is plenty there for everyone to try. I guarantee that you will find something you love. Everything that I have tried there so far is delicious! I recommend Shin Jung highly and hope that you find time to try it out. I hope that you will like it and you will keep going there.
